Privacy Statement

The International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies (IHRN) is an international consortium of science academies and scholarly societies in approximately 90 countries.  The Committee on Human Rights of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, based in Washington, D.C., serves as Secretariat for the IHRN.  The privacy statement specified herein applies to all webpages created by the IHRN.

Due to the nature of the IHRN’s work, we may receive personal or sensitive information under relevant laws and regulations.  By continuing to use our website, you are agreeing to the terms of this privacy policy and acknowledging that your information will be handled in accordance with it.

The IHRN reserves the right to change this privacy statement at any time.  We will use data in accordance with the privacy statement under which any data has been collected.  Questions should be directed to hrnetwork@nas.edu.  


Information We Collect

The IHRN may make limited use of analytics providers to monitor and access website and email traffic. Such systems may collect basic information about your computer (e.g. IP address, location, operating system, or browser), pages visited, duration of visits, or links followed.  The IHRN does not sell, lease, distribute, or otherwise use this information for any other purpose.


Handling Your Information

The IHRN may receive and process information, including names and contact details, provided to it with the consent of the concerned individual for the purposes of:

              -providing information or services to the concerned individual

              -providing updates to the individual about IHRN events, publications, or other activities


The IHRN houses its website on Squarespace.  The Squarespace platform is HSTS Secure enabled and takes reasonable efforts to protect the privacy and security of the information it collects from our visitors.

The IHRN’s website may include links to other sites.  This policy applies to the IHRN’s website only and does not concern other websites that may accessed through links located on this site.  The IHRN is not responsible for the privacy practices of other such websites, which may use data in ways that do not correspond with the IHRN’s privacy policy.  We encourage our users to read the privacy statements of each site they visit.
